#16 Rides you should not miss at three Disney parks with a one-day hopper ticket

    A Disney hopper ticket allows you to hop at least one theme park in one day. If you have the energy and endurance to be on the go all day to visit park highlights, this is the right ticket for you. My family visited Disney Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom with two-day hopper tickets to celebrate my graduation and my wife's. Here is my cheat sheet of what you should experience in each park if you only have a one-day hopper ticket. The Magic Kingdom completes Disney's four-themed amusement parks. However, I did not include it in the list because the park is for families with small kids, and it is better to experience it on multiple days, not as a hopper.

    If you want to visit more rides either at the Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom, you can also upgrade your ticket to lightning lane, which can cut at least one half of your waiting time.

  Of course, there are so many more rides, shows, and other experiences worth visiting in each park. However, due to wait times and limited park hours, the above list is the must-see rides if you are targeting to see these three fantastic Disney amusement parks in one day!

Quick tips:

  • Visit the parks during the winter break between Christmas and New Year. It is the best time of the year to do park hopping due to the favorable temperature.
  • Bring your sunglasses and sunscreen. Florida is nicknamed the sunshine state.
  • Bring a lot of snacks and a refillable water bottle.
  • Download the My Disney Experience app to see when and where to go. Bring your phone charger.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. You will reach up to 20,000 steps.
  • Go back to these parks some other time, spending at least one day each if you want to enjoy them.

#27 From Netherlands to Tagumbao: How a famous Dutch landscape painting helped me reminisce the village where I grew up

  The Harvesters  (ca. 1565) by Pieter Bruegel | Oil on wood | 45 7/8 x 62 7/8 in. You can examine the artwork here .      Pieter Bruegel the Elder's (ca. 1525-1569) work above depicted one hot summer in a Dutch countryside. It was part of his original six paintings, but five survived, showing the different seasons of the year. The one above is currently displayed at the Met Museum in New York City, while the other four are exhibited in Vienna, Austria, and Prague, Czech Republic.      It is interesting that as I examined the details of this Dutch masterpiece, it brought memories of the  barrio  (village) where I grew up in the 1980s. It is fascinating despite significant differences between the year (the 1500s versus the 1980s) and place (the Netherlands versus the Philippines), the subjects in the painting and my experiences shared similarities. As a result, those similarities triggered the memories of the village I grew fond of....

#22 We got bored so we walked 12,600 steps and here's what we saw

     What will you do if you got bored but you live in a city that offers so many things to do and see for free? You walk. There are always new things to see and discover when you explore the city's surroundings. That's exactly what my teenage son and I did on a beautiful spring sunny day. Our pre-war but well-kept apartment building   ABC News Building at Columbus Avenue Fox News Building at 6th Avenue   The Trump International Hotel and Tower with The Globe Sculpture at Columbus Circle Entrance to the Central Park at Columbus Circle Facade of The Shops  (a shopping mall) at Columbus Circle The NBC News Building at the Rockefeller Center   People line up to watch Stephen Colbert's late show taping.
