#19 So, this is Wall Street

Image
Wall Street in New York City (NYC) is probably the most popular, frequently-mentioned street globally. You see it in movies and television. You read about it in books and the news. It is the most famous, sometimes controversial, in the corporate world, at least in America.       Wall Street is actually a narrow street (see Gabe's picture below with a pretzel) of about 8 blocks and not accessible to public vehicles. It is part of the larger section of the financial district of the Lower Manhattan borough in NYC. Here are the most popular tourist destinations you must see if you visit the district. The Charging Bull . Also known as the Bull of Wall Street, this international icon is located on Broadway St. near Morisson St. This bronze sculpture of approximately 7,000 pounds is the work of the Italian artist, Arturo Di Modica. He spent tens of thousands of dollars and gifted the piece to NYC's financial district. Your fri...

#18 We "met" some of the world's most famous artists at The Met

Image
Water Lilies (1919) by Claude Monet | Oil on canvas | 39 3/4 x 78 3/4 in.      For me, s eeing in person the great works of some of the world's most famous visual artists is like meeting your favorite film or music artists. On a freezing, sunny Saturday morning in February, my wife and I had the privilege to see the well-known paintings of Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse, Vermeer, and Picasso currently on exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) in New York City for free! Although I like visual arts, I am far from being an art aficionado. However, with a bit of research, I learned and was fascinated by the techniques used by these artists. There are thousands of paintings at The Met, but we focused our visit on the works of the above artists. Notes: The information about each painting (e.g., dimensions) are taken from the museum's website. The clearer copied images below are in the public domain, which means they can be freely copied, modified, and distributed ...

#17 We went to church the first Sunday of 2022 and here's what I heard

Image
On January 2, 2022, my family decided to attend church in person instead of virtual worship. Here are the lessons I heard from the sermon. Note: Listening to a sermon is a subjective experience. Therefore, my notes below do not represent the totality of the message delivered by the pastor. Messenger: Pastor A Opening remarks Do you have a hunger for righteousness? How to build our deeper relationships with God? Through prayer. Who taught you to pray? The messenger's dad taught him how to pray? Reflection: My late father also taught me how to pray and to develop the habit of praying anytime, anywhere, and as a family. That's one of the greatest legacies I acquired from him. Jesus taught us how to run to God - through prayer. Sermon Title: When You Pray Text: Matthew 6:5-15 (The Lord's Prayer) Common excuse on why Christians are not able to pray - busy! To Christians, prayer should become like the act of breathing, a natural act! Lesson 1: When you pray, don't fear man ve...

#16 Rides you should not miss at three Disney parks with a one-day hopper ticket

Image
A Disney hopper ticket allows you to hop at least one theme park in one day. If you have the energy and endurance to be on the go all day to visit park highlights, this is the right ticket for you. My family visited Disney Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom with two-day hopper tickets to celebrate my   graduation and my  wife's . Here is my cheat sheet of what you should experience in each park if you only have a one-day hopper ticket. The  Magic Kingdom  completes Disney's four-themed amusement parks. However, I did not include it in the list because the park is for families with small kids, and it is better to experience it on multiple days, not as a hopper.
